Mabinty Scott Political Bio
Mabinty Scott is an aspiring political leader and dedicated community advocate in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Born in West Africa, Sierra Leone, she moved to the United States at the age of five in 2000. After spending her early years in Prince George's County, Maryland, Mabinty relocated to Alexandria, Virginia, in 2011, where she graduated from T.C. Williams High School. This diverse background has shaped her perspective and fueled her commitment to public service. Mabinty earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Virginia State University, followed by a Master’s degree in Government with a focus on Law and Policy from Regent University. Her academic achievements laid the foundation for her passion for advocacy and community engagement.

Mabinty's journey in local governance began as a volunteer for Councilwoman Sabrina Wooten, where she actively contributed to various community initiatives. Her dedication and hard work led to her appointment as Wooten's Legislative Aide, a role she held for nearly four years. In this capacity, Mabinty engaged with the community through school tours and educational programs, including participating in Read Across America Day at White Oak Elementary School, where she fostered a love for reading among young students. Additionally, she played a key role in helping Councilwoman Wooten with the Minority Disparity Study and the Independent Citizen Task Force, further demonstrating her commitment to addressing community needs. Inspired by her grandfather, who served as a chief in Sierra Leone—a role equivalent to that of a mayor—Mabinty is driven by a deep desire to make a meaningful impact in her city. This passion motivates her to run for the Virginia Beach City Council, representing District 7.

As a candidate, she is focused on addressing key issues affecting her community, including economic development, public safety, affordable housing and educational opportunities. She is also a strong advocate for the District 7 recreation center and library, recognizing their importance in fostering community engagement and providing resources for residents. Mabinty is a devoted mother and wife, cherishing her family life with her husband, Damon, and their son. Her commitment to family values shapes her vision for a thriving community where families can flourish. She advocates for collective bargaining and equitable policies.
